Homebrew

Homebrew is software made for a system not made by the company. Ex. PSP is made by Sony, homebrew apps are not officially endorsed by Sony. NDS homebrew was not made by Nintendo.

Homebrew can come in games (Deal or no Deal ..., Volley Ball) or applications (UMD Dumper(Copier), iR Shell, Media Players). Also emulators are common too (Run GBx and (S)NES games on PSP for NDS…)

Not meant to be run

Game companies are against homebrew. A definition of homebrew is "Software not meant to be run on your PSP/NDS," however this is just what they think. Homebrew allows consoles to do great things. Homebrew enables ISO backup and these companies think it is a piracy issue "The problem experienced here is not with homebrew applications, but with hackers who pirate commercial titles" a Sony Spokes person said.
